Why Choose Facial Fat Transfer?

Sunken cheeks, baggy eyes, and a sagging jawline can all make you look significantly older than you are. If age and time have left your face looking gaunt or deflated, you may be curious about how to regain your youthful looks. If you’re looking for a simple and effective way to feel younger again, you might be ready for the transformative powers of  facial fat transfer. At The Plastic Surgery Center in Bradenton and Sarasota, we encourage you to discover how this safe, efficient, and effective procedure can help you turn back time.

What is a Facial Fat Transfer?

Autologous fat transfer had its beginnings in the 1930’s.  Over the years, the technique has become perfected and is now a mainstay of aesthetic treatment for aging and volume loss.  Facial fat transfer is a common surgical procedure that uses fat from your own body as filler, adding volume to your face. This procedure, also known as autologous fat grafting, is an excellent and minimally invasive method to help achieve a younger appearance.

Where Can Facial Fat Transfer Be Used?

Fat can be applied to a number of areas on the face, one of the most common being under the eyes. If you have heavy bags beneath your eyes, fat transfer can help fill out the lower lid and upper cheek junction to give you a fresher look. Another popular region is the upper and lower lip where facial fat transfer can restore their fullness and shape. Many patients opt for facial fat transfer to treat the nasolabial folds (between the nose and lips) and marionette lines (lines that extend from the corner of the mouth to the chin). Less commonly, the temporal area is treated in order to soften the area around the eyes. The results of fat transfer are a natural, rejuvenated and youthful appearance.

Benefits of Facial Fat Transfer

Facial fat transfer is minimally invasive and highly effective at revitalizing facial features. It can address and reduce the severity of aging due to volume loss. The results of this procedure are dramatic and known to last for years. Recovery is relatively easy and produces very natural-looking results that can do wonders for a person’s confidence and self-esteem.

The procedure can be performed by itself or in conjunction with other cosmetic facial procedures such as a facelift, browlift or blepharoplasty. In addition, autologous fat transfer can easily be accomplished in the office under local anesthesia. Best of all, there is little chance of any adverse reaction with facial fat transfer since the procedure only uses fat from your own body.

Facial Fat Transfer Procedure

The facial fat transfer procedure entails the gentle removal of fat from a specific area(s) of your body with small liposuction cannulas. Common areas used to obtain the fat include the abdomen, hips and inner thighs.  The harvested fat is placed in a centrifuge in order to separate the fat cells from lipid and saline. The purified and undamaged fat cells are gently and slowly injected into the areas of the face using a blunt tip cannula in order to ensure their survival. Some of the fat cells will resorb with an expected survival rate of 50-70% of the transferred fat.

When Will You See Results?

The recovery time is minimal.  Initially, there will be swelling, which will abate in a few days. Volume changes may be seen as early as three weeks, and more apparent in four months. Final results of the fat transfer are evident around six months from the time of the procedure. If you have any questions about your results or your recovery, you can always seek answers from Dr. Scott at our Bradenton and Sarasota locations.

Who is a Good Candidate for Facial Fat Transfer?

Anyone who wishes to erase the telltale indicators of age and rejuvenate their faces with youthful fullness may be a good candidate for facial fat transfer. Facial fat transfer is also an ideal procedure for those who receive injectable fillers on a regular basis.  This procedure allows a much more permanent solution to semi annual and yearly filler appointments. Ideal candidates should also be in relatively good health and maintain realistic expectations about this procedure in terms of what it can accomplish.

Start with a Consultation

Your facial fat transfer will begin with a consultation with Dr. Scott.  At our offices in Bradenton and Sarasota, you can discuss the area or areas in which you’d like to see more volume, where to remove the fat, and whether there are additional procedures that would be beneficial for your facial rejuvenation. During this time, you can ask any questions and learn as much as possible about the procedure. Dr. Scott will assess your facial structure, review your medical history, aesthetic goals, general health, and help you determine the optimal treatment for your needs.

Discover the Amazing Benefits of a Facelift

When a person does not like how they look, it has an effect on their self-esteem. How about you? How do you feel about what you see when you look at yourself in the mirror? Are there certain aspects of your appearance you would like to change? If so, it is nothing to be ashamed of. Many people feel exactly the same. This is why surgical procedures such as a facelift are so popular. Let’s take a few minutes and examine the benefits of having this cosmetic procedure.

Add Definition to Your Neck and Tighten Loose Skin

Getting older is no fun. As we age, our appearance changes. Our face starts to sag, we develop wrinkles, and our skin starts to droop. These changes can make us feel like we are so much older than we really are. There’s nothing worse than having someone guess your age wrong and think that you are five or six years older than what you really are.

What are your complaints about your aging face? If you are like most people, one of the things you don’t like is the loose skin underneath your chin and your neck. Some people try to hide this problem by wearing turtlenecks, sweaters, or a scarf. Or they are so ashamed of the way they look that they avoid taking photographs at all costs. However, after having a facelift, they are happier with the way they look.

Some people feel that the most unattractive feature they have are their jowls. After having a facelift, your jowls may be removed forever. You will be left with a sleeker jawline. Your profile will look sharp, and you won’t have to feel embarrassed of your jowls anymore.

Loose skin is often associated with getting older. When a person first starts to notice their skin beginning to sag, they may use anti-aging creams. The benefits they get from anti-aging creams are minimal. With time, people move on to dermal fillers.

For a period of time, dermal fillers will produce noticeable results. Still, your loose skin will get to a point where no amount of filler is going to be enough. With a facelift, your skin is tightened. Neck and facial muscles are also tightened. The result is a natural-looking improvement in the appearance of your face. All of this is done without giving you a windblown look. Your face will not look tight or pinched. At the end of the day, you will look well rested and younger. A modern-day facelift is designed to restore your natural beauty. Thanks to advances in the techniques used during this procedure, you will not have as long a post-surgical recovery as those who may have had a similar procedure a decade ago.

One of the biggest fears that people have about having a facelift is that when it’s all said and done they will look unrecognizable. They worry they are going to look windblown. They are terrified that friends and family members are going to know that they have had a surgical procedure done.

To be fair, society’s view of cosmetic surgical procedures has drastically changed in the past few years. They have gone from being something that was completely taboo to something that many people are proud to say that they have had done. A lot of this has to do with changes in the way people view beauty.

Still, in many circles, having a cosmetic procedure done is something that is whispered instead of shouted from the rooftops. Modern-day facelift techniques mean that you will be able to retain your unique appearance. Any surgical openings made are going to be hidden in your hairline. No one will know that you had a surgical procedure unless you tell them. When they look at you, they are going to see is someone who is well rested. They are going to see someone who looks more confident. They are going to see a naturally younger version of who you are.

Will the Procedure Actually Make Me Look Younger?

Yes – that is the whole purpose of the procedure. What will vary is how much younger the procedure will make you look. The variance occurs because everyone is unique and everyone’s face is unique. Some people have facial features that can be clearly defined with plastic surgery.

When your surgeon performs your facelift procedure, the goal is to help you achieve a rejuvenated and youthful appearance and give your face a sense of symmetry. All of this is done while simultaneously keeping your facial landmarks in place.

Over the years, there have been a number of studies done that show that people are significantly happy with their appearance after having a facelift. The happiness comes not only from the physical enhancement, but it also comes from the effect that the enhancement has on a person’s emotional, social, and mental well-being.

Studies have shown that when a person has a facelift they may be able to take as much as 10 years off of their perceived appearance. One study that was done by Canadian and US researchers showed that on average patients who had this procedure done looked 8.9 years younger than their perceived age.

The study was done by taking a photograph of 60 patients waiting to have a facelift performed. They were photographed again after their surgery and recovery. The before and after photographs were than shown to a random group of people.

The group of random people were asked to guess the age of the individuals in the photographs they were looking at. When they saw the before pictures, most guessed that the person they were looking at was 1.7 years younger than their actual age. When they were shown the after pictures, they guessed that the individuals they were looking at were approximately 8.9 years younger than their actual age.

The research is clear. If a facelift is well executed, it has the possibility to take up to 10 years off of a person’s perceived appearance. In essence, this procedure can turn back the clock one decade. Imagine the impact a procedure like this could have on your self-esteem. Imagine what it would feel like to have your loose or sagging skin disappear. Imagine how you will feel when you look at yourself in the mirror and see a face that now appears more youthful.

If these results are not startling enough, something that has surprised many is that when a photograph of an individual who had a facelift was shown five years later, people still felt that the individual’s age was younger than what it actually was when the individual first had the procedure.

What Happens During the Facelift Procedure?

The first step is the administration of anesthesia. You are given this medication so you are comfortable as you go through the surgical procedure. After the anesthesia has been administered, your surgeon will make the surgical openings. The locations of these will vary depending on the style of facelift your surgeon is going to carry out. In most cases, openings will start at the hairline at the temples and go around the ears. They will finish up at the lower scalp. These openings give your surgeon access to sculpt fat or redistribute fat on your face.

Your surgeon will use this time to redistribute jowls and their underlying tissue. If needed, your surgeon will tighten and lift the muscle layers in your face. Once everything is in place, your skin is draped over your face, and the excess skin is trimmed away. If you are having work done on your neck, your surgeon may make an incision underneath the chin to work on this area. Once this is done, the openings will be sealed and the procedure completed.

Finally, there is the recovery process. When the procedure is complete, your surgeon will apply a bandage around your face with the goal of minimizing swelling. They are going to give you specific instructions on how to care for your face in the days following the procedure.

Most people are able to go back in public in as little as two weeks. You should expect it to take a couple of months for your face to look and feel completely normal. During this recovery time, you should maintain a healthy lifestyle and stay out of the sun. The final results of your surgery should leave you looking youthful and rested. It should help you feel more confident in yourself.

Am I a Good Candidate?

At the end of the day, deciding whether or not to have a facelift is a personal decision. However, sitting down and talking to your cosmetic surgeon before your procedure is a good way to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for this procedure.

Since this is a surgical procedure, you need to be in good overall health. This is why we will ask you a number of questions about pre-existing medical conditions. Your body needs to be healthy in order to recover from it quickly. The healthier you are at the outset, the quicker you are going to be back to your everyday routine.

One factor that we are going to consider is the condition of your skin. Ideally, you want your skin to be flexible and elastic. Your skin should be able to bounce back when pinched. This is one of the reasons smokers are asked to stop smoking for a number of months before the procedure.

In addition to the health factors and the structure of your face, there are emotional factors that come into play. To be a good candidate for this procedure, you need to have a realistic expectation for what this procedure can do. There is no question that a facelift can change your life. It can make you a more confident individual and take years off of your perceived age. That said, you are still going to be you after the surgery. If you don’t have a realistic idea of what the surgery can do for you, you may walk away from it feeling disappointed.

Why Mothers in Sarasota and Bradenton Love the Mommy Makeover

Mommy Makeover

When Can a Woman Have a Mommy Makeover?

There are several reasons why mothers in Sarasota and Bradenton visit plastic surgeons to have mommy makeovers. Pregnancy can change the way a woman’s body looks, often leading to a loss of self-esteem. If a woman has multiple pregnancies, this can affect the shape and condition of various areas of her body. While a woman can diet and exercise to get back into shape, it doesn’t always work to repair the damage to the abdominal zone or breasts. Fortunately, plastic surgeons have created packaged makeover surgeries to fix several problems that occur in women after giving birth. First, a woman should complete all of her childbearing before considering surgery. In addition, she should no longer be breast-feeding her infant. To have a mommy makeover, a woman will need a complete examination to determine if she is healthy enough for the procedures. Some plastic surgeons will require a mental evaluation of a woman to ensure that she doesn’t have any unrealistic expectations about undergoing plastic surgery.

What is Included in a Mommy Makeover?

The focus of a mommy makeover for women in Bradenton and Sarasota can include repairing the breasts and abdomen, but it is possible to customize the procedures. Some women develop sagging breasts that require a lift while other women have a problem with breasts becoming smaller, and this may require an augmentation procedure. For women who have developed heavy breasts that are causing neck or back pain, a woman can have a breast reduction. A reduction of the breasts is a more complicated and invasive procedure, but it can improve the woman’s health in addition to her appearance. Women will also have a tummy tuck, but the extent of these procedure varies for each woman, depending on the amount of saggy skin and underlying tissues that she has. If you have a tummy tuck, this entails the removal of excess tissue or the tightening of sagging tissue. In addition, a woman can opt to have liposuction on the abdomen, hips or buttocks as part of the mommy makeover.

Why Do Women Want This Procedure?

Women living in Florida want to have mommy makeovers to have a slimmer and firmer body so as to continue wearing comfortable items such as swimsuits, shorts, and tank tops without any self-consciousness. With the hot weather in Bradenton and Sarasota, women find it difficult to wear clothing that covers the entire body. In addition, if a woman has flabby breasts and a saggy abdomen, then she would need to wear firm or controlling undergarments that are hot and uncomfortable. With a mommy makeover, several procedures are performed during one day so that a woman only needs one recovery time. After makeover surgery, a woman will return to her Bradenton or Sarasota home to continue her recovery.

Complete Body Rejuvenation with a Mommy Makeover in Bradenton

A mommy makeover offers you the chance to get your pre-pregnancy figure back or better. It is a combination of surgical procedures that may lift and enlarge your breasts, tighten your waist and flatten your abdomen. Does it sound too good to be true? It’s not. It is possible, and many women are taking advantage of it right now.

When you talk to our specialist in Bradenton, you will learn about the possible combinations of surgeries from which to choose to get the figure you want. Mommy makeovers are for women who have finished childbearing and breastfeeding and have had little success with diet and exercise.

The main procedures included in a mommy makeover are:

Abdominoplasty

Also called a tummy tuck, this surgical procedure tightens the muscles and underlying tissue in the abdomen and stretches and removes loose skin. For some, most of the stretch marks are removed along with the excess skin.

Breast enhancement

Breasts tend to lose volume, sag and look deflated after several pregnancies. This is usually the result of hormonal changes. If your skin is still elastic and you don’t plan to breastfeed again, a breast lift may be your best option. A breast lift is a good solution for sagging breasts and lost volume, but it may not be the right treatment for everyone. Breast implants are very popular and will add volume, firmness, and projection to make your breasts look better than before you pregnant.

Body Contouring

This process removes pockets of fat that simply won’t go with diet and exercise. It is often combined with a tummy tuck to make sure the body looks smooth with good contour. Over the past ten years, the liposuction procedure has improved greatly, and it is useful for precise sculpted contours.

A mommy makeover is major surgery and requires post-treatment care and recovery time that may affect your ability to care for children. When you talk to our surgeon in Bradenton, you can learn about what is required for recovery and how long you may need to rest before you start to see the results.

You may not be sure which procedures you need to look your best. Our specialist in Bradenton will show you tests you can do in the office or at home to help you decide if a tummy tuck is what you need or if liposuction may be enough.

If you have worked hard through diet and exercise to regain your pre-pregnancy body, to no avail, then a mommy makeover may be for you. You will have the chance to look the same as before or improve your figure, and the results are long-lasting. Contact us today at The Plastic Surgery Center to schedule your consultation.

Who is a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover in Bradenton?

mommy makeover

The term mommy makeover says it all. After giving birth one or more times, mommies can reclaim their pre-baby body with a combination of cosmetic procedures. A mommy makeover in Bradenton may include a tummy tuck, breast enhancement, and liposuction, among other things. You can customize your procedures according to what you want.

You may be a good candidate for a mommy makeover if your pregnancy and breastfeeding have changed the size and shape of your breasts. If your abdomen is sagging and if you have pockets of fat that will not go away no matter how much you diet and exercise, this procedure may be perfect for you. Mommy makeovers are intended for women in Bradenton who are finished childbearing and are at a stable weight.

Since a mommy makeover is a combination of procedures, you need to select the type of surgery that will restore your appearance. Your breasts may have lost volume with drooping nipples. They may have become larger, contribute to back pain and be out of proportion to your body. Your waistline may be thick and undefined or you may have had a C-section and have excess fat hanging over the scar. Whatever the reason you are not happy with your appearance, a mommy makeover may be a solution.

Abdominoplasty is called a tummy tuck. It removes fat and excess skin from your abdomen. The procedure involves separating the skin from the muscles so they can be tightened. The fascia that overlays the abdominal muscles can also be tightened. The skin is also stretched and replaced, with the excess being removed.

There are several procedures to improve the appearance of the breasts. A breast lift may be the solution for women who are satisfied with the size of their breasts, but want them to sit higher. Breast implants can help if the breasts have lost volume, and the procedure can be done in combination with a breast lift or not.

Liposuction alone may not be enough to give you a pre-pregnancy body. It will remove fat and is often used in combination with a tummy tuck to remove pockets of fat that are not affected by diet and exercise.

When you have a consultation with Dr. Scott at The Plastic Surgery Center, you can learn more about the different procedures that are typically included in a mommy makeover. Contact us today to schedule an appointment at our office in Bradenton or Sarasota!

Customized Mommy Makeover Procedures for Women in Bradenton & Sarasota

mommy makeover

A mommy makeover is a group of procedures that will boost your confidence by helping you get back to your pre-baby body. Giving birth could be one of the most important moments of your life, but it is also going to take quite a toll on your figure. This personalized body contouring procedure available to women in Bradenton, Sarasota, and surrounding areas addresses issues such as uneven or deflated breasts, sagging breasts, stubborn abdominal fat, and loose skin.

Your Post-Pregnancy Body

For many mothers, it feels nearly impossible to lose weight and tighten skin without professional help. That is because pregnancy can impact almost every aspect of your body, including your muscle mass, body fat composition, and hormone levels. Even if you do everything in your power to stay healthy during your pregnancy, you will still notice at least some changes to your body after you give birth. Sticking to a clean diet and exercising as often as possible might help you stay at a healthy weight, but those lifestyle habits won’t fix issues like uneven breasts and loose skin.

The Ideal Mommy Makeover Candidate

As long as you are a relatively healthy woman, you will most likely be a great candidate for a mommy makeover. During your first consultation at our office in Bradenton or Sarasota, one of our team members will help you understand all of the details of a mommy makeover so that you can decide if this procedure is right for you.

Common Treatments and Procedures

Most patients who decide to have mommy makeovers carried out are worried about stubborn body fat. As such, liposuction is a popular cosmetic procedure that allows our surgeon to quickly remove extra fat in areas such as the neck, arms, chest, back, flanks, and abdomen. If you have loose skin and lax muscles in the midsection, then you might also benefit from a tummy tuck.
Breast augmentations and lifts are two other popular options for women who are unhappy with the appearance of their breasts. Both of these procedures alter the shape of your breasts, but they treat two completely different cosmetic issues.

The Benefits of a Mommy Makeover

Your customized mommy makeover is going to boost your confidence and change your life forever. Once you have fully recovered, you will look and feel better. If you are struggling with any cosmetic issues and would like to explore your treatment options, then get in touch with our team at The Plastic Surgery Center to learn more about this popular combination procedure. We have offices in Bradenton and Sarasota. Contact us today to schedule a consultation!
