PLASTIC SURGEON IN SARASOTA REVEALS COMPLEMENTARY APPROACH TO FACIAL REJUVENATION

Posted on March 26, 2014

Dr. Jeff Scott of The Plastic Surgery Center in Sarasota and Bradenton discloses his personalized approach to facial rejuvenation surgery, including which procedures he often combines.

Sarasota, FL — “Every individual differs in his or her facial aging process,” says Sarasota plastic surgeon Jeff Scott, MD in a recent blog post titled Dr. Scott Q&A: Facial Rejuvenation. “As a result, the age at which most people begin to consider surgical facial rejuvenation varies widely. Patients typically begin to consider surgical facial rejuvenation anywhere from their mid 40s to their early 50s.”

At his plastic surgery practice in Florida, Dr. Scott offers an assortment of surgical and nonsurgical procedures for these patients considering facial rejuvenation. In order to determine which areas of the face should specifically be addressed, he begins each consultation with a comprehensive medical history and facial examination during which he outlines an individualized treatment plan based on each patient’s unique needs and concerns.

Oftentimes, a patient’s surgical plan will involve a combination of procedures that complement one another. “For instance,” says the Sarasota plastic surgeon, “if a faceliftalone is performed on a patient who also has hooding of the upper eyelids and lower lid ‘bags,’ the upper and lower eyelid area could actually appear proportionately worse and more aged after the procedure. In these cases, I might recommend accompanying the facelift with browlift and eyelid surgery.”

Additionally, Dr. Scott frequently employs injectable fillers and fat grafting treatments in conjunction with surgical procedures to help augment volume depleted facial areas and restore a more youthful contour. Among the numerous filler options available at his practice, he notes JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC are most frequently combined with facelift surgery due to the filler solution’s smooth consistency and potential for long-lasting results.

Ultimately, no matter the specific combination of procedures, Dr. Scott says his goal for all facial rejuvenation cases is to help patients achieve a more youthful and rested look. In his own words, “A well-done facial rejuvenation makes patients look as they did when they were younger, but does not change their unique appearance.”
