Safe & Effective Fat Removal Procedure
Considering Liposuction?
Many people are unable to eliminate stubborn fat pockets despite a good diet and exercise. Liposuction helps reshape and contour your body by removing excess fat in areas such as the chin, arms, abdomen, hips or love handles and thighs. It is most effective for individuals with a healthy lifestyle that are 10-30 pounds near their ideal weight. It is one of the most popular procedures performed to help people achieve their ideal look.
Liposuction Procedure:
There are primarily three standard methods for liposuction: traditional, laser assisted, and ultrasonic assisted. Each of these methods work equally well by themselves or in conjunction with one another. Certain methods may be more beneficial for certain areas of the body, skin elasticity, or volume of fat to be removed. It is best to schedule a consultation with Dr. Scott in order to determine which method or methods would be optimal for your goals.
The traditional or standard method of liposuction utilizes cannulas of different sizes in conjunction with negative pressure to suction fat out of the body. Laser assisted liposuction involves the use of thin laser fibers to deliver low-energy waves which liquefy the targeted fatty tissue. A cannula is then used to extract the liquified fat. Ultrasonic-assisted liposuction disrupts the unwanted fat using high energy sound waves prior to extracting the liquified fat. The procedure begins with Dr. Scott marking the areas of treatment while you are standing upright in order to eliminate the distortion which occurs while lying down. At the beginning of the procedure, all of the targeted areas will be injected with a Tumescent solution. This solution hydrates and loosens the fatty tissue to be treated, numbs the area and provides constriction of the blood vessels to minimize any bruising from the procedure. Liposuction can be done in the office or an outpatient surgery center, depending upon the areas to be treated and length of time required. This will be determined during your consultation with Dr. Scott.
Liposuction Recovery
It is normal to have some drainage from the liposuction sites the night of surgery. It is important to drink fluids following your procedure. We will provide you with a compression garment to wear for approximately 4-6 weeks. Discomfort is usually minimal, dependent upon the amount and location of the sites treated. Most physical activity may be resumed within two days of your procedure. You will notice an immediate improvement in the the treated areas after the procedure, with final transformation in about 3 months. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight in order to have lasting results.
