Have you noticed that you have more wrinkles today than you did the day before? They may be bothering you because you feel that they make you look older than what you really are. You have tried non-surgical treatments and although you have seen some minor results, you feel that you are still not getting the outcome you want. You know that a facelift is likely the next best option for you. But are you too young for this procedure? Is there a right age to have this procedure done?
The Right Age for a Facelift
First, it should be acknowledged that everyone ages at a different rate. So while one person in their 40s may still look like they are in their 20s, another individual in their 40s might be mistaken for someone in their mid-to-late 50s. There are a number of factors that contribute to why and how a person ages. Some of these factors are genetic, and other factors are based on the environment. Since the aging process is a personal thing and since a person’s perception of age is also a personal thing, it stands to reason that the decision whether or not to have a facelift and when to have one done is personal.
For this reason, most cosmetic surgeons do not give their patients a specific age for when they can have the procedure done. What is good to know is that if you are considering having a facelift done, then oftentimes, the sooner, the better. Why do we say this?
When you are still in your younger years, you still have relatively good skin elasticity. This means that you can achieve optimal results from the facelift procedure. This doesn’t mean that as you get older you’re not going to be able to have a natural looking procedure, but it just means that it could take a little bit more effort to achieve these results.
A General Timeline for Cosmetic Treatments
As we’ve already laid out, there is no such thing as a set timeline to have cosmetic procedures done. It all depends on the unique situation. With that being said, if you are seeing loose sagging facial skin, jowling, and deepening folds, a facelift could benefit you. Talk to our team at The Plastic Surgery Center to find out for sure.
